How to Transfer a Domain to HostingSutra Print

  • 0

Consolidating your domains with us makes renewals and DNS management simpler. Here is the process.

Before you start

  • The domain must be at least 60 days old and not have been transferred in the last 60 days.
  • Unlock the domain at the current registrar.
  • Disable WHOIS/ID privacy temporarily, so the approval email can reach you.
  • Make sure the administrative contact email is one you can access.
  • Obtain the EPP / authorisation code from the current registrar.

Placing the transfer order

  1. Go to hostingsutra.com and choose Transfer a domain.
  2. Enter the domain name and the EPP code.
  3. Complete checkout. Most extensions include one extra year of registration in the transfer fee.

Approving the transfer

The current registrar emails the administrative contact asking to confirm. Approve it to speed things up. Without approval, most transfers complete automatically after about 5 days, provided the losing registrar does not reject them.

How long does it take?

Usually 5–7 days for .com/.net/.org. Some country-code domains such as .in follow a different process and can be faster.

Will my website or email go down?

No. A transfer moves the registration, not the DNS. Your existing nameservers carry over, so nothing changes for visitors. Change nameservers separately when you are ready.

If the transfer fails

The usual causes are a locked domain, a wrong or expired EPP code, a domain within 60 days of registration, or a pending expiry. Fix the cause and place the order again — we will refund or re-apply the fee on a ticket.
